Hayden sets up charity to try save whales
Hayden Panettiere has set up a new charity in a bid to help fund those trying to save threatened whales off the coast of Japan.
The heroic actress joined protestors in the water late last year but couldn't stop fishermen bludgeoning sealife.
Panettiere was caught on camera sobbing about the loss of life she desperately tried to save, while defending herself from angry fisherfolk's harpoons.
Now the actress is using her fame and fashion sense to raise cash for the campaign to save the whales.
She has launched website www.panettierecloset.com, where she'll sell off items from her wardrobe.
All proceeds will go to the Save the Whales Again campaign. It states: "Can you look good and help a worthwhile cause at the same time? Yes, you can!"

As People Magazine confirmed, the 18-year-old actress is currently dating her 30-year-old Heroes co-star, Milo Ventimiglia. She told Lucky that she is transitioning into a more glamorous look as she gets older.
“Right now my style is very frenetic,” says Hayden Panettiere. “It seriously changes as quickly as my mood.” The petite 18-year-old, who stars are the (literally) invincible cheerleader on the NBC hit Heroes—and will be seen later this year alongside Julia Roberts in the drama Fireflies in the Garden—arrived at our L.A. Photo shoot and immediately made a beeline for the shoes. Before she’d even gone to hair and makeup, Panettiere had tried on every single pair we’d brought—quite an accomplishment. “I’m kind of obsessive about really stunning heels,” she says. “I get excited even taking the elevator up to the shoe floor at Bergdorf’s.”

On a December trip to New York City, Ventimiglia — who is 12 years older than 18-year-old Hayden — hung out with the entire Panettiere family. "He's even met her grandparents. He fits in perfectly with the family. Milo jokes around with her little brother," says the source. "They're buddies."
